Why we work this way
Everyone in Nairobi has a story about a house help.
Usually it involves a reference that turned out to be a cousin, a certificate that turned out to be bought, or a person who simply did not come back after Christmas. Kenya's own Diplomatic Police Unit warns households that reference letters and police certificates are routinely forged — and that a certificate the candidate collects can be swapped before it reaches you.
None of that is exotic. It is what happens when nobody actually checks. So our method is not clever, it is just done properly and in the right order: we hold the original ID, we collect the police certificate ourselves, and we phone the last two employers rather than reading their letters.
Then we write it all down in a contract, because the second most common failure is not dishonesty. It is a job that quietly grew — an extra meal, a car to wash, a second household — that nobody agreed to pay for.
What we will not do
- We do not take a cut of a worker's salary. Job seekers pay a minimal one-time registration fee; the placement fee is paid by the employer, never deducted from wages.
- We do not filter candidates by tribe. If you ask, we will decline politely and explain why.
- We do not place staff below the legal minimum wage. We will tell you what a role must pay before you interview anybody.
- We do not place a caregiver into a nursing job, or one person into a 24-hour shift. Both are unsafe, and we will say so.
- We do not send a stack of CVs. Three vetted candidates, matched to your brief.
And if we cannot help, we say so. There are briefs we are not the right agency for — very remote locations, highly specialised clinical care, security work that needs a licensed firm. We would rather point you elsewhere than take a fee and disappoint you.
