Caregivers

Compassionate care. And a file you can check.

Elderly care, recovery after surgery, special needs and overnight companionship — in your own home, by someone who has been identity-verified, police-cleared and referenced by phone.

Who we care for

Four situations we are asked about most

An ageing parent at home

Companionship, mobility support, bathing and dressing, meals, medication reminders and a written daily log the family can read.

Recovery after surgery or illness

Short-term cover through the weeks when someone cannot yet manage stairs, cooking or the bathroom alone.

A child or adult with special needs

Matched to the specific needs — mobility, communication, routine, sensory — rather than to a generic job title.

Nights, so the family can sleep

Overnight presence for someone who wanders, falls, or needs turning and toileting during the night.

Day to day

What a caregiver does

  • Personal care — bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, with dignity
  • Mobility support, transfers and fall prevention
  • Meal preparation to any dietary requirement, and help with eating
  • Medication reminders and a written record of what was taken and when
  • Companionship, conversation, walks and gentle activity
  • Housekeeping of the person's own room and laundry
  • Escorting to clinic and hospital appointments
  • A daily written log, so the family always knows how the day went
Where we draw the line. A caregiver reminds and supervises medication. Injections, wound management, catheters and other clinical procedures need a qualified nurse. If your situation needs one, we will tell you and help you find one rather than place a caregiver into a job they should not be doing.

Questions

About hiring a caregiver

How do I know they will be kind when I am not there?

You cannot know it from a CV, which is why we phone previous employers and ask directly about temperament and patience, not just competence. We also ask for a daily written log and we call at day 7 and day 30. If something is wrong, that is usually when it shows.

Can we start with a trial?

Yes, and for care placements we recommend it. A two-week paid trial, on a proper contract, tells you more than any interview. If it does not work, the 3-month guarantee still applies.

We need 24-hour cover. Is that one person?

No, and any agency that says yes is selling you a problem. Round-the-clock care needs two people on shifts, or one live-in caregiver plus night cover. A single person working 24 hours is neither legal nor safe for the person being cared for.
