What she will do
The single most common source of conflict between Nairobi families and their nannies is scope: nobody agreed at the start whether cooking, ironing, or minding a second child was part of the job. We settle it in the contract before day one.

What we check
Not a photocopy she brought. Copied front and back, with a current photograph taken in our office and kept on file.
The Certificate of Good Conduct is applied for and collected by Frimak. A certificate a candidate collects herself can be substituted; one we collect cannot.
We call, confirm the dates, ask what went wrong as well as what went right, and record who we spoke to. Relatives are not accepted as referees.
Practical checks appropriate to your children's ages — nappy and bottle handling for newborns, supervision and routine for toddlers.
Choking, burns, fever and when to call for help. A nanny who cannot answer these is not placed with an infant.
Duties, hours, days off, salary, leave and notice — agreed by both sides in writing before she starts.
Salaries, 2026
Since 1 May 2026 the legal minimum for a domestic worker in Nairobi is KES 18,047 a month. Any figure you see advertised below that is not a bargain — it is an offence carrying a fine of up to KES 50,000, up to three months' imprisonment, or both.

Guidance based on what Nairobi households are currently paying, adjusted so that every figure sits at or above the statutory minimum. NSSF and SHIF are payable on top. This is not a quote — your actual salary depends on experience, hours and location.

A nanny's job is the children. A house help's job is the house. Families often ask one person to do both, which is legitimate if it is agreed and paid for — but it is the fastest route to a resignation when it is assumed rather than discussed. If you need both, tell us and we will either write a combined role properly or recommend two people.
Yes. We present a shortlist of three, you interview them, and you choose. If none of the three is right, we go back and find more at no extra cost. Nothing is payable until you have selected someone and she has started.
A private room that locks, with a proper bed and mattress, and access to a bathroom and to her own food. Servants' quarters are normal in Nairobi; a mattress in a store room is not, and candidates will decline it.
We replace her free of charge, with no second placement fee, for 3 months from her start date. Because we keep vetted candidates on file, most replacements are placed within 72 hours.
